Melissa joined the AHLA team in 2019 to develop a more robust communications plan for the AHLA and to streamline communications with members. Aside from managing ongoing communications such as the AHLA website, newsletters, and social media, she dips her toes into the communications for a number of projects, including Aspire and Ascend, AHLA human resources projects, and the programs of the AHLA Services Corporation.
Melissa graduated from the University of Alberta with a BA (Recreation Administration) with a focus on Tourism, and has worked in communications at the University of Alberta, the Edmonton Humane Society, Canadian Blood Services, and the Edmonton Heritage Festival.
Melissa enjoys travelling and digital scrapbooking, but she’s also a closet adrenaline junkie who has jumped off the Sky Tower in New Zealand, climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and scuba dived in the Great Barrier Reef. She’s a nice person, but whenever she talks to someone, she’s actually silently correcting their grammar.
