Are you passionate about Alberta’s hotel industry? Do you believe that hotels are stronger when they work together?
Consider running for the AHLA Board of Directors! The Board of Directors is responsible for setting the association’s strategic direction to serve our members. Our purpose is to help our members prosper by bringing together hotels. This will be critical as we emerge from the pandemic. We are looking for industry champions who:
- Believe in the power of working together
- Want to find solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing Alberta hotels
- Are ready to be part of a progressive board that acts with integrity, protects the assets and affairs of the association, embraces challenges, takes pride in serving their fellow hoteliers, and has fun doing it!
The Board meets four times per year. Board members are elected for two year terms, and may be asked to serve on working committees and task forces, as required.
Four seats are up for election for the AHLA 2023-24 board. Elections will take place March 13 – 17, 2023. The deadline for nominations is February 24 at 4 p.m. Please send your nomination form and competency matrix to nominations@ahla.ca.
Members wishing to run for election must ensure their membership is in good standing with the AHLA, and must be nominated by another AHLA member in good standing. Only owners, part owners, proprietors, managers, or officers of the member hotel are eligible to run for election and serve on the AHLA’s Board of Directors.
In addition to committee work and preparation time, the AHLA’s Board of Directors typically holds 3 full day meetings each year, in early April, September, and December, with a two day retreat in June. More information about the commitment of time and energy that board members make is available in the nomination package. Candidates will be asked to provide a letter of support from their hotel’s ownership.
