NEW Order from the Chief Medical Officer of Health

Order 09-2022 – Outlines the masking requirements in Step 2 of easing public health measures.

Order 02-2022 – Sets out isolation and related masking requirements in the Province of Alberta. This order also reduces the isolation period for fully vaccinated individuals as well as outlines the Critical Worker Exception.

The provincial mask mandate has been lifted for most settings, except:

  • on municipal and intra-provincial public transit for Albertans 13 and older
  • at all AHS operated and contracted facilities and all continuing care settings
  • following mandatory isolation due to COVID infection for vaccinated individuals (continuous masking must be followed for up to 5 days)

The City of Edmonton’s Temporary Mandatory Face Coverings bylaw remains in place and requires all individuals 2 years of age and older to wear a face covering in Edmonton’s indoor public spaces and public vehicles.

The AHLA encourages properties to talk to their staff about getting vaccinated for COVID-19 as soon as possible. This will:

  • protect your employees and their families,
  • protect their colleagues and guests, and
  • reduce the spread of COVID-19, making it possible for people to gather and travel sooner.

Talk to your employees about getting the vaccine, and make sure they have the right information. Vaccine eligibility and booking information is availabe here.

Announced on October 7, new legislation is being developed to protect businesses that require vaccinations for employees from legal challenges.

Rapid Testing

Starting December 17, rapid test kits for at-home use will be available at select Alberta Health Services sites and select pharmacies.

Rapid tests continue to be available to any public, private or not-for-profit employer or service provider with an approved COVID-19 screening program. To get rapid tests for your hotel, you can apply here or with your local chamber of commerce.
