Thanks to the 100+ AHLA members who contacted their MLAs, as well as the advocacy efforts of the association, the Tourism Levy abatement has been extended. This will allow hotels to retain an extra 4% of room revenue until June 30, 2021. The AHLA had previously been informed that the abatement would end on March 31, so we are pleased that the government heard our collective voice during this challenging time.
“It is a significant win for our members that the government reversed its decision on extending the abatement of the Tourism Levy. It’s an acknowledgment that they do understand that our industry is still very much in survival mode and requires liquidity support. I truly believe our AHLA grassroots member letter writing campaign to MLAs had a huge impact on influencing this decision.”
The AHLA also encourages eligible hotels to apply for the latest round of the Small and Medium Enterprise Relaunch Grant. The deadline for applications has been extended to June 30.
