The Government of Alberta has announced new public health measures in Edmonton and Calgary to reduce COVID-19 infection rates, which include a 15-person limit on all social gatherings. Businesses are still allowed to hold events with more than 15 people where participants are socially distanced and there will be no social interaction.

This temporary limit will be reassessed at the end of November 2020.

When holding events, remember to observe the Government of Alberta’s Guidance for Indoor Events, particularly the guidance around seating and dining areas. Chairs should be at least two metres apart, which means:

  • only two chairs are permitted at a 6′ (2 metre) round table, placed 6’ apart, and
  • only one chair is permitted at each 6′ table for a U-shape or hollow square configuration.

Hotels should work with meeting conveners to ensure events comply with government direction.
