By Enmax Energy
The AHLA’s Power Program by ENMAX Energy is one way to get the most out of your energy. Here are a few other easy ways for you to manage your energy use this winter.
Let the sunlight in
If you have south facing windows, take advantage of Alberta’s ample sunlight. Open the blinds during the day and let the sun’s heat warm up meeting rooms and lobbies. This will take some of the load off your heating systems.
Use the right bulb for the job
With shorter days, we all use more electricity for lighting. A simple trick is to use brighter bulbs for desk work, and lower wattage bulbs to light general areas such as laundry rooms or storage areas.
Don’t stand by and allow waste to happen
From computers and printers to hotplates or sales terminals, it’s become too easy to leave electronics plugged in and idling on standby power when not in use. Powering them off, or better yet, unplugging when possible will eliminate a wasteful loss of electricity. Over time, this can add up to real savings on your use.
