Scholarships

The focus of the scholarship program is to strategically award the dollars to students, employees or relatives of employees who can truly make a difference in our industry with the professional development they receive.

Applicants can use funds for either post secondary institutions or professional certification.

Professional Certifications

  • Maximum amount awarded per applicant is $2,500.00 for the year (January 1 to December 31).

  • One application form per applicant for the year.

  • Scholarships are available to students, employees of AHLA members, and their relatives who are in or enrolled in a tourism or hospitality program at an accredited institution.

  • Proof of payment and enrollment is required with the application.

Post Secondary Institutions

  • Maximum amount awarded per applicant is $2,500.00 for the year (January 1 to December 31).

  • One application per applicant for the year.

  • Scholarships awarded for enrollment in a certificate, diploma or degree program.

  • To ensure the applicant is knowledgeable about the industry and career potential, applicants must complete an interview with of an AHLA member property. The manager must confirm the interview in writing, stating the date, time and topics discussed.

  • Applicants will be provided with a list of approved academic institutions in Alberta. Institutions outside of the province (including international institutions) will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

  • The scholarships are available to students, employees of AHLA members and their relatives of who are enrolled in a tourism or hospitality program at an accredited institution

  • Proof of payment and enrollment in the program is required with the application

How to Apply

  1. Complete the application form and return it to the AHLA office with proof of payment and enrollment in the program or training course.

  2. The Scholarship Committee will review applications on a regular basis. Properties will be notified in writing of the decision of the Scholarship Committee.

  3. Funding is available on a first come, first served basis.
