With the support of Travel Alberta and the Government of Alberta, the Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) has presented the Housekeeping Award since 1983.
Properties nominate themselves for the award. Any Alberta hotel or motel participating in the Check In Canada program is eligible for nomination. The recipients are selected based on a number of criteria, including unannounced inspections, social media, and a detailed breakdown of TrustScores.

Outstanding Hotels Stand Out
New Look for Prestigious Housekeeping Award!
With the support of Alberta Culture and Tourism and Travel Alberta, the Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) has presented over 3042 Housekeeping Awards since 1983. As consumers increasingly use social media and the Internet as their primary sources of travel information, the Housekeeping Award needs to keep up.
241 properties nominated themselves for the 2015 Housekeeping Award. All properties who qualified for the award are listed on Check In Canada. Using a combination of unannounced inspections, social media, and a detailed breakdown of TrustScores, the 2015 Housekeeping Award recipients have been determined. A total of 163 have met the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort, and maintenance to achieve the Housekeeping Award.
Be sure to follow @ABHotelAssoc and @CheckIn_Canada on Twitter – announcements will be made starting at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2014. The AHLA will present this coveted award at our 2015 Convention & Trade Show Friday, April 17, 2015.
The awards have also gotten a facelift. Based on your feedback, we have created a new visual identity for the Housekeeping Award, with graphics and resources that will help you tell your guests and staff about your achievement. We adopted a new and improved look and feel because, just as the winners need to keep their properties up-to-date, the awards also need to stay current.
With the support of Alberta Culture and Tourism, 2015 Housekeeping Award winners will receive:
· An icon on their Check In Canada and 2015 Accommodation Guide listing;
· Logos for use in their promotional materials and website;
· Standardized artwork to use for tent cards and promotional materials;
· TV stills for lobby monitors and guest rooms;
· An icon to use on their social media accounts;
· A news release template to help you announce your award; and
· Videos that will help tell guests and staff about this hard-earned accomplishment.
All of this will be made available to recipients through a new Housekeeping Award website.
Even if you didn’t receive the Housekeeping Award, we have created a new video to help you train your staff about the importance of cleanliness and maintenance required to make your property stand out.
