The Housekeeping Award program was developed in 1983 to encourage, recognize, and celebrate properties that demonstrate excellence in cleanliness, state of repair, and maintenance. Any establishment participating in the Check In Canada program is eligible for nomination and the winners are then selected based on the inspection results.
Beginning this year, properties that wish to be considered for a Housekeeping Award will be required to apply for the award based on certain criteria filters. It will now be the responsibility of each and every property to submit an application to be considered for this award. However, it is our goal to make the new process as simple and transparent and possible.
It is important to note that the criteria and inspection process for the Housekeeping Awards will remain the same. It is only the application process that has changed.

Unannounced inspections of guestrooms will take place prior to December 2014.
A selection committee determines recipients based on reports from inspection, application, and TrustScore.
Award winners will be notified of they have recieved the Housekeeping Award for 2015 well before AHLA Convention registration opens.
