Employer of Choice

The AHLA’s Employer of Choice (EoC) designation is an opportunity for you to distinguish your hotel, motel, campground or resort from other employers in Alberta’s tourism & hospitality industry.

AHLA members are invited to apply to be recognized as an Employer of Choice by completing an audit of their property’s human resource practices. The AHLA’s goal is for every member to achieve the EoC designation. All you need to do is show that your property has solid and effective HR practices. You do not need to have an HR department to participate.

Why Should You Be An Employer of Choice?

Employers of Choice are able to recruit and retain top talent. Properties that are able to minimize employee turnover have an advantage over their competitors by ensuring they can provide consistent and excellent customer service.

In today’s difficult labour market, employers have to offer more to attract the best. The AHLA’s Employer of Choice designation will advertise that you are an employer that offers more. It will help new workers to choose which employer they want to work for – and help you to keep star performers.

An Employer of Choice designation is not only recognized and valued by workers. Customers recognize employers of choice as a place that are likely to provide a better level of service than their competitor.
